The Quayside Restaurant opened in 1999 and is housed in one of Whitby's oldest buildings. Built back in the 1820s as Whitby's Bath house, Museum and Library, the building has had several other uses since the early 1900s including shops and a photographic studio, and during the war the troops were fed on the ground floor before dancing on the first floor.
The author, Bram Stoker carried out some of the research for his novel Dracula in this building.
The Fusco's took over the building in 1999. A complete refurbishment of the restaurant took place complete with structural alterations, a new pan range and new equipment the following year.

The Quayside is run by eldest son Stuart. Stuart has taken the business from strength to strength since opening, winning several awards including 3 National. He won the Young Fish Frier of the Year 2004/5, and also the Les Routiers Café of the Year 2005, and has now won Top Fish & Chip Shop in Yorkshire in the National Fish & Chip Shop of the Year competition 2008. Making Quayside one of the top 20 shops in the whole of theUK.
Trade at the Quayside has increased year by year and
Stuart now has a staff of over fifty.
Stuart was chosen as an ambassador for Great Britain and features in a video on the Visit Britain website promoting the great British Dish.
